Trucks: up to 98% reduction in harmful emissions

88% reduction in carbon monoxide emissions, hydrocarbon emissions limited by as much as 95%, 97% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions and, last but not least, up to 98% reduction in particulates.

Minerals represent over one third of road freight

Minerals (raw or artificial) were the most commonly carried freight in Italy in 2009, representing 35.14% of all the goods moving on rubber.

The number of cars on Italy's roads has increased (+4,92%) over the past five years

The number of cars in Italy has increased by 4,92% over the past five years, jumping from 34,636.594 units in 2005 to 36,339.405 units in 2009.

EUR 155 million could be saved annually

Further savings of EUR 155 million per year, in addition to 25,713 tons of raw materials saved and 87 liters of oil slashed to cut domestic energy bills, as well as 24,873 tons of used tyres kept out of the environment. These additional savings could be achieved in Italy if retreads were employed on trucks as widely as they are in the U.S. According to Airp (Italian Tyre Retreaders Association) figures, only 32% of the spare tyres purchased in Italy are retreads, versus 50% in the U.S.
